What Time Is It?

It's hard to believe but it's once again time to get prepared for flu season by contacting your physician, local clinic or Senior Citizen's Center for a flu shot and / or pneumonia vaccine.  Central Illinois members may receive their immunization September 30th, October 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th from 9AM - 11:30 AM and 1PM-4PM.  No appointments are necessary to receive an injection only and immunizations will be given on a first come, first served basis at the Wabash Outpatient Clinic.  If you are not certain of the amount covered by your benefit plan, call the administrative offices at (217) 429-5246 or toll free at 888-800-9161.  For maximum therapeutic benefit, the medical community advises that these injections should be given in early fall.  Remember to check with your physician if you have any doubt as to whether or not you meet the criteria to receive flu or pneumonia vaccine.

Field Trip For Fitness Workers

WMHA Fitness Center Volunteers were the guests of the Decatur ADM Hydroponics Plan this past summer.  Jim Burton, Earl and Mary Sandage, Bill and Dorita Chabak, Jody and Don Carter, Edie and Louis Logan, Richard and Dolly Zerfowski and Sondra Hall were impressed with the facility.  They found it to be not only interesting but educational as well.  While enjoying the aroma of fresh mint, they saw some of the 10,000 heads of lettuce produced on a daily basis and watched the fish that are raised and shipped virtually around the globe. The Wabash group was grateful to the ADM Hydroponics Plant Manager for taking time to show them another side of the ADM Corporation.

= WMHA is soliciting all Actives to sign up and utilize our low price Canadian mail order drug program administered by EHO in Temple, Texas.  It is a super design but savings to our Plan is dependent on utilization by you, an Active working member.  Active members spend 54% or $1,000,000 annually of our total drug bill.  Therefore, our Plan saves most when Actives participate.  At the same time, you can save up to 63% on your co-pay or reduce it to the flat $20 co-pay for a 90 day supply of brand maintenance drugs.  There are over 220 drugs available through Expedite Rx so sign up today and receive up to a 63% savings on your next prescription.

=Expedite Rx Mail Order brand drug list has expanded.  On July 1st, 171 brand drugs were available through Expedite Rx mail order but that list has expanded to 220 and is growing.  To find out if your brand maintenance drug is available through Canadian mail order, call 1-800-650-1817 and sign up today.

=Medicare members are asked to advise their providers to bill Wabash at our Decatur address for secondary coverage after Medicare has paid.

=WMHA members should not be taxed on prescription drugs.  WMHA is a tax exempt, not-for-profit health and welfare trust.  If your pharmacy charges sales tax, ask them to call EHO (800-650-1817) for confirmation.

= Four brand drugs are now available as generic medications.  They are Zestril, Zestoretic, Prozac and Glucophage.  Generic drugs are therapeutically equivalent to the brand product but at a fraction of the cost.  Remember, our Plan does not cover brand drugs when generic drugs are available.  When your prescriptions are written be sure your physician indicates "may substitute" or you could be penalized the difference between the brand and generic costs.  When a brand drug goes generic, it is taken off the Canadian mail order list of available brand drugs.
