Expedite Rx Update
Through
August of 2006, only 388 Wabash members have utilized the Canadian /
International drug plan. However, with less than 10% participation, we are still
reporting fantastic savings for both the members and Wabash. The annual
financial facts for this year are: 268 members with active drug benefits have
collectively saved themselves $38,000 in copays. In doing so, they have also
saved Wabash an additional $151,078 for a combined savings of $189,078 or $141
per prescription. Another 120 members with no drug benefit, but who take
advantage of their EHO discount drug card, are saving themselves $69,885 or an
average of $91.40 per prescription mail ordered through International sources.
If Wabash saves, we want you to save too. Think of the potential savings if
everyone using expensive brand drugs would participate in our ExpediteRx import
plan. Please call Bob at EHO (800-650-1817) to see what you can save.

What
Is Theramac?
The Wabash Board will be reviewing a new program that will assist us in
controlling pharmacy costs. Similar to a 'preferred drug' program, Theramac will
encourage use of the most 'cost effective' product in certain therapeutic
classes where multiple drugs exist all purporting to do the same thing. If a
member insists on the higher price drug because of advertisements or the
physician pushing a product promoted by a 'drug lunch' they will be charged the
difference between the cost effective product and the higher priced drug (unless
the physician sends EHO a form requesting and authorizing the high cost
product).

Important Information
The lifestyle you lead in your 40s and 50s will contribute greatly to the status
of your health in your 70s and 80s. If you want to enjoy retirement, your
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, start NOW. Eat right, exercise often,
STOP smoking - and if you consume alcohol, drink only moderately. |

If y ou
have been asked to "fast" with nothing to eat or drink for 12 hours before
having blood drawn for certain tests, there is new evidence suggesting that one
may (and perhaps should) continue to drink water and black coffee (no sugar or
sweetener). It is now believed that continuing with these liquids will leave
your veins hydrated and easier to find and 'stick' when your blood is drawn. You
may wish to check with your health care professional the next time you are given
these instructions.

Employees, Inc (NARVRE) are
working for you. The best
investment you can make in
your pension is to join NARVRE now. Contact the National Office at
1-800-551-2588 and they will do the rest. It's the best $12 investment you can
make ($19 for husband and wife).

Did We Get
Lip Service Only?
Detroit
Wabash member, Mr. James Coffee, reminds us that in spite of legislation
(introduced in July by US Senators Nelson and Vitter) that would stop the
seizure of drugs from Canada, our legitimate orders continue to be stopped at
the border. If illegal aliens are allowed entrance, why not allow LEGAL DRUGS ?
You can help by writing your senators for information about the July 2006
legislation and ask them to move it along and support it. |
