                                                                In Memory

Wabash extends condolences to family members and friends of our Wabash members who have recently passed away. Life can be the same after a trinket has been lost - but never after the loss of a treasure.

                                                Benefit Reminders

  1. Plan 9 and 10 Medicare participants are reminded to instruct their physicians that professional fees on all services provided in the physician office, including diagnostic work, are to be filed electronically with Wabash.  Physicians will receive both their primary (Medicare) and secondary (Wabash) payments in a single check.  Providers will receive faster payment and overall costs to Wabash are reduced which allows us to keep dues as low as possible.  Billing instructions are on the back side of your Wabash Medical Card

  2. Sleep Apnea is a common disorder that affects about one in five people. People with sleep apnea stop breathing when they are asleep, sometimes hundreds of times a night. Men, overweight people, and people over forty are at a greater risk for sleep apnea. Untreated sleep apnea can cause hypertension, stroke, or heart failure. Treating sleep apnea can reduce blood pressure, improve glucose control in diabetics, and make you feel better. The standard treatment for sleep apnea is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. CPAP therapy is safe, easy and does not involve drugs or surgery. CPAP machines are only available to members with Wabash as their primary coverage by mail order through Depot Drug, a subsidiary of Union Pacific Health Systems. Wabash will pay Depot Drugs 80% of the machine cost and bill members for the remaining 20% co-payment. Members who do not want to use the mail order company may have up to 80% of the Depot Drug price applied toward their machine purchase. Replacement machines will be covered every five years.  CPAP supplies will be paid at 80% of Depot Drug pricing, a maximum of two times per calendar year. Again, 80% of the Depot pricing will be paid toward supplies that are not purchased by mail order. If your doctor determines that you need a CPAP machine, please contact Wabash at 888-800-9161 for further details on getting your machine ordered through Depot Drugs.

                                                        Railroaders Serving Railroaders

Canadian National worker, Dana Christensen, is like most heroes - he seeks no acclaim and thinks he did nothing special.  While working in the heat recently, he spotted an elderly Wabash member (female) in the local CN Yards who was obviously disoriented.  After looking at a paper she was carrying, he saw the Wabash name and address and brought her to Wabash Association. She was cooled down, transported to the hospital and is now doing fine.
