Recent Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Honors Wabash Volunteers
In March of 1998, twenty-three local Wabash members made themselves available to
assist with
bulk mailing, Fitness Center staffing and any duties deemed
appropriate by Wabash Administration.
Over the years, the group has cha nged with new members, and some are either no
longer able to come in or are deceased. Not only does this group donate many
hours of service to Wabash Association, most of them meet in the Wabash Fitness
Center on a regular basis for coffee, potlucks (Corned Beef on St. Patrick's Day,
Ham and Beans, Pizza, Birthday Celebrations) and to share their years of wisdom
with each other - some actually exercise. A true family atmosphere where
everyone is accepted is the banner of the Wabash Volunteers as they genuinely
care for one another and the Wabash Staff. When needs are present in their group
or a family member, they pray for
one another and do all they can to ease the burden of the other. As each of them
has said at one time or another, "this group is good therapy". Laughter
reverberates through the Fitness Area when the group gathers. All members are
invited to stop by the Fitness Center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings
(8am-11am) and experience the camaraderie and acceptance for yourself. For
information on becoming a part of the Wabash Volunteers, please call Tamara at
(217) 429-5246. _____________________________________________________________________________
