              When It Works...It Works

Importing high-priced drugs from International sources can often be a "big pain", especially if your shipments are stopped at the border.  But.... your patience can bring huge savings if you're able to allow extra time for delivery.  By ordering drugs through Canada last year, 243 Actives had a combined average savings of $154 per prescription.  Friends of Wabash participating saved $102 per script.  Only 9% of our Wabash members took advantage of drug savings through Canada last year.  If more members imported prescriptions and switched to generic products for US retail purchases, our total drug cost could be reduced astronomically.  Remember - the $$$ you save are your $$$.

---------------------------------------------               Wal-Mart $4 Drugs

The Wal-Mart drug plan is saving members and Wabash $$.  If your purchase there is a brand drug, you save on your co-pay.  One member reports that she saved $132 on her cholesterol medicine by having her physician write a 90-day script which only cost her $12 through the Wal-Mart program.  Between Wal-Mart and Canada there are opportunities to SAVE.  You can access the Wal-Mart drug list from the pharmacy link on our web page.         _________________________________________
                      Flu Clinic Update

Our Decatur Clinic Flu Shot Outreach Program (DCFSOP) provided to Wabash members last fall was a huge success resulting in an 89% increase in shots administered by our Outpatient Clinic than the previous year.  946 shots were administered at an estimated savings of $7,700 to Wabash members over the cost to receive the shots from other sources.  We hope to expand this service next year to spouses and NS personnel who may have primary coverage elsewhere.  Watch for late breaking news and announcements on your respective Bulletin Boards.
