Did You Know??
- A recent survey indicates that 90% of all medical
claims are preventable and that up to 90% of all hospital bills have gross
overcharges. (as reported by MSN Money 2/23/2006)
- Wabash is researching a new benefit for Retirees
that could be funded by Medicare. It is a secure National Data Retrieval and
Storage System called AccessMyRecords.com. You can review their website -
www.accessmyrecords.com and let us know what you think.
- 500,000 people visit Emergency Rooms each year as a
result of snake or bug bites and stings. Remember that Lyme and other diseases
contacted from "critters" can be fatal. Take precautions if you spend a lot of
time outside this year.
- Wabash female members are advised that our Plan
allows all of the benefits provided for in the "Women's Health and Cancer
Rights Act of 1998" as well as the "Newborn and Mother's Protection Act of
1996".
- Rarely a month goes by without a request to Wabash
for medical equipment not covered by our Plan. We're always in need of quad
canes, walkers or even electric wheel chairs and scooters. We will be
happy to serve as the clearinghouse for our new Wabash Loan Closet.
Donations of clean and usable items will be gratefully accepted from anyone.
However, equipment may only be loaned out to Wabash members.
