Mr. Clarence (Bill) Chabak and Mr. Stephen Stone (BRS) were reappointed to the Joint Conference Committee to serve with Committee Chairman, Mr. Mike Patrick and Mr. Speagle. Mr. Speagle, Mr. Chabak and Mr. Patrick will continue to serve on the Finance Committee. A May review performed by a Certified Actuary determined that the Wabash Benefit Schedule A (for Actives) is much richer than United HealthCare's CHCP and MMCP plans. The primary differences are that Wabash pays 100% on most services and participants with UHC are charged steep copays on almost all office visits and significant deductibles. Based on 2007 activity, Wabash Actives received $472,594 more in benefits than they would have if they were enrolled in UHC's CHCP and $259,351 more if part of the MMCP. Consider this: On average, a person sees a doctor five times a year and fills eight prescriptions - very few get transplants and less than 8% are hospitalized. Although some of UHC's benefits may look better on paper, they are rarely used by members . BENEFIT COMPARISON FOR BBN June 2008.PDF
