                                Board Says No Dues Increase

A successful 2007 brings a benefit to the entire Wabash family. With a surplus of revenue over expense expected this year, our Board of Managers voted unanimously to abstain from a dues increase for 2008. It is a 'Thank You' from the Board and Administration for all of us working together to keep our costs down and for being judicious healthcare consumers. As we continue our 124-year tradition of 'Railroaders Serving Railroaders', our Board and Administration extends a Merry Christmas wish to all our members and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Christmas - A Time For Giving

What better way to support your Active and Retired Railroad family than with a generous tax-deductible donation to the Wabash Hospital Association Foundation. Here are some ways you can help our Foundation Endowment Fund grow:

1. A tax-deductible check payable to Wabash Hospital Association Foundation (Mail to Wabash - PO Box 1340, Decatur, IL 62525).

2. A bequest written in your Will with the Foundation as recipient.

3. A donation of stocks, bonds or a donation in the form of an insurance policy with the Foundation as beneficiary (or a shared beneficiary within one of your existing policies.)

                         NS Denies Access

The The importance of flu injections by NS's Dr. Paula Lina in the NS Newsbreak. Everyone was encouraged to get their shot.  However, when Wabash wrote to NS, on two occasions, in an attempt to expand our annual Flu Clinic to NS locations, we were ignored and never heard back. Our answer was finally received on October 29th when we were advised that we would not be allowed on NS property even to give FREE FLU SHOTS to their employees.
Wabash had geared up this flu season with extra vaccine and nursing support. We were offering free shots to all our members and extending service to NS Company workers and others insured by United HealthCare. We were prepared to serve any NS employee from Kansas City to Detroit in keeping with the NS theme of 'encouraging flu shots for all'. With preparations made and schedules and venues arranged, we were told at the very last minute that we were 'denied access' to any NS property, even at locations such as Decatur, Lafayette and St. Louis, where we were allowed to set up on NS property last year.
As always, Wabash exists only to serve its members. With just a little cooperation from NS, we can do an even better job. Without it, we'll still do a good job!
