                                                                In Memory

Wabash extends condolences to family members and friends of our Wabash members who have recently passed away. Life can be the same after a trinket has been lost - but never after the loss of a treasure.

                             Did You Know That...?

  1. Wabash Actives have to negotiate their On Duty Injury medical claim costs through their attorney to be added to their final settlement with the Railroad. Wabash often waits 2-4 years to be indirectly reimbursed by the carrier through the member's settlement on medical claims paid by Wabash on their behalf. National Plan Actives don't have to pay anything... but here's why: United Healthcare gets paid in advance and up front by the carriers for injuries whether or not they actually occur. Each month, United Healthcare receives $23.17 for every National Plan Active - whether they are injured or not. Obviously, if they paid that to Wabash, our Actives wouldn't have to pay anything back either.

  2. Thousands of seniors are opting out of their Medicare Part D drug plan. Many have found that when they add up their monthly premium, co-pays, donut hole costs and deductibles, they were paying more for drugs under Part D than through their previous Plan such as our "Friends of Wabash". Call Bob at EHO (1-800-650-1817) if you'd like some help comparing Medicare drug costs.

  3. Cell Phones have opened up a new wave of unsolicited spam phone calls. You can now opt off of those calling lists by calling 1-888-382-1222. Simply give them your cell number and you will be added to the National "Do Not Call" list. You must be calling from the phone with the number you want listed.

  4. Medicare Members will be receiving new Wabash membership cards. They should be in the mail to you by the end of December. When you receive your new card, please destroy your old Wabash membership card. It is also important to present your new card at your next physician and / or hospital visit since it contains new billing instructions. Providers are to call Wabash (217-429-5246) with questions. Medicare members not receiving a new card by mid-January should advise Wabash at 1-888-800-9161.
