Rules On Payment of Benefits

There is a financial incentive for all members to use our network of hospitals and physicians.

Members residing within 20 miles of a WMHA network physician or hospital must use that provider to receive full benefits. Referrals from a network physician must also be made to specialists within the network (if that specialty is represented) to receive full benefits.

Except for emergency, life-threatening situations, a 20% reduction in benefits will be taken if a member within 20 miles of a network hospital or physician receives treatment from a non-network provider.

Members living outside a 20 mile radius of network facilities should refer to their specific benefit schedule to determine their coverage or they can e-mail or call their personal claims representative for clarification and assistance in locating network providers.

Physicians and hospitals may be under direct contract with WMHA or indirectly through the Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO network.
