The Wabash Fitness Center On October 2, 1998, former Wabash physician, Dr. Douglas Ellis, Board member, Mr. Clarence (Bill) Chabak and Decatur Memorial Hospital Vice President, Mr. Terry Meyers, cut the ribbon officially opening the Wabash Fitness Center at 1501 North Water in Decatur. After the opening ceremony, Decatur Memorial Hospital Physical Therapist, Ms. Chrissy Horve, discussed the equipment and explained the proper techniques of exercising. Ms. Horve also presented fitness / exercise technique posters which were also provided by Decatur Memorial Hospital. The fitness center is totally staffed by volunteer Wabash members and all the equipment has been donated by either individual members or the Decatur Memorial Foundation. Mats for floor exercises and a "stepper" are expected to be added to the facility soon. If you would like to become a volunteer send us an email by clicking here. Or by contacting Mrs. Dorita Chabak or Mrs. Lucy Derlitzki, Volunteer Fitness Scheduling Coordinators. They can be reached by calling the Fitness Center at 420-1017. Exclusive Wabash Members Only There is no charge to use this facility, however, a waiver must be signed. All members are welcome to use the equipment any time the facility is open. Initially the hours Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. - 12p.m. As the volunteer staff increases, it is anticipated the the Fitness Center will be open in the afternoon as well.
