How The Foundation Works

Mission and Goal

Who Can You Turn To When Your Health Benefits Are Expended?

The Wabash Hospital Foundation was created in December of 1999 as a 501-C-3, non-profit charitable corporation. As such, all donations received are fully tax deductible. Although the Foundation is established to benefit members of Wabash Association, it operates independently with a separate governing Board of Directors. The Foundation’s immediate goal is to achieve a $2,000,000 endowment fund, the annual earnings of which will be made available through “grants” to needy members of Wabash Association who may have expended their health care benefits because of catastrophic illness or injury. The “grants” will be administered by an independent committee of the Board. The Wabash Hospital Association Foundation exists to help needy railroaders, spouses and dependents maintaining membership in the Wabash Memorial Hospital Association. It is also there to help railroad retirees and their spouses in time of need when Railroad Medicare cannot.
